Gondola rides in Venice

No trip to Venice is complete without a ride on a Gondola…. or is it? Having travelled alone, I did not fancy the awkward (and expensive) situation of being in a gondola alone… especially if the gondolier starts singing (they usually don’t). But it is amazing the amount of effort that these guys put in and make these beautiful crafts glide so smoothly through the narrow canals

Las Arenas de Barcelona

This is the view from the Las Arenas in Barcelona, a former bullring, now converted to a shopping mall with a top floor that has restaurants and a platform to go right round the building for a spectacular 360 degrees view of Barcelona city. It is right opposite the Plaça d’Espanya (the roundabout in the picture) and road that leads up to the Magic Fountain.


Grand Central Rush Hour

Grand Central Terminal is a hive activity with many people running around trying to get to their destinations. The only ones standing still are the tourists who gawk in awe at the immense and beautiful architecture.
